FOREIGN TALENTS IN SINGAPORE
A positive externality in Singapore is the foreign talents. The government spends money to attract foreign talents to settle in Singapore, benefiting Singapore in one way or another.

I have four main reasons for my view.
Firstly, there is a large portion of foreign talents in Singapore’s sport arena. For example, Singapore’s national Ping Pong players come from China. Because of their sporting talent, the Singapore Women Tennis Team clinched a silver medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics for Singapore. Such foreign talents have brought about great honor to Singapore.
Secondly, there are a group of foreign talents who help groom the future of Singapore, by educating the young, our lecturers. With their wealth of knowledge and expertise, Singapore students may then benefit from their teaching and can better contribute to the society in the future.
Also, foreign talents introduce different cultural backgrounds, and this adds to the richness of Singapore’s diversified cultural life, which makes a uniquely Singapore.
Last but not least, there is a common unnoticeable benefit that Singaporeans garner from foreign talents. That is, due to the influx of foreign talents, Singaporeans begin to be more competitive. As, many of them are afraid they will lose out to the foreign talents. Once this happens, higher standards will be attained as everyone wants to be better than others. With such enhanced competition, I believe Singapore will progress to become a better nation.
